OMFGorgeous: Celebs Who Owned The VMA Red Carpet

Forget the crops and leather–the It Girls who ruled the VMAs red carpet went with classic silhouettes and edgy accents. Take a peek at who made my Best Dressed list…

Iggy Azalea

After taking a tumble off the stage, I was pleasantly surprised to see Iggy Azalea’s look at the VMAs. This Atelier Versace gown is chic and classic but still edgy and youthful. Yes, it’s a fancier (ha) look than most of the other It Girls were wearing, but you know what they say: If you want to be queen, you have to dress the part.

Jordin Sparks

Had I realized that Jordin’s white haute dress was matchy-matchy with BF Jason Derulo’s blanc ensemble, she never would’ve made my Best Dressed list. Couples who coordinate to this level are just embarrassing. But, she does look good and so few other starlets did, so Jordin, you’re welcome. The full skirt balances out the plunging neckline and the long sleeves feel more end-of-summer while the crisp color says um-no-summer-is-still-here-dammit-I’m-not-ready-to-let-go! In sum, the perfect pre-Labor Day look. Bravo.

Jennifer Lopez

I’m not sure how J.Lo keeps ending up on the invite list for events meant for teenagers—clerical error, I assume—but at least she brings her fashion A-game along with her ex boyfriend. There is a LOT going on with this silvery, shimmery, strappy, sexy Charbel Zoe gown, but Jen’s personality and body make it work, IMO. But you know what didn’t accessorize well with this gown? Casper Smart. Let go.

Beyonce

All hail Queen Bey! To the surprise of exactly no one, Beyonce totally ruled the red carpet, the stage, and quite possibly the world in general. The look I loved most was this Nicolas Jebran Couture dress she wore on the red carpet. The secret to Bey’s sartorial success is that she is keenly aware of her body shape and always dresses to flatter her shape—not chase trends. The gown’s long sleeves balances out the peek-a-boo panel in front, and while I do think her earrings were a tad too much, of course she pulls it off. Bravo, B, may your reign never end…
