Amazing News: ‘The Here And Now’ Receives Film Adaptation

'The Here and Now' by Ann BrasharesDarlings, remember how I was so smitten with Ann Brashare’s new YA novel, The Here and Now, that I practically wrote an ode to it? As you well know, I don’t dish out praise easily; my respect and awe are hot commodities and they must be earned. However, I will always hold a special place in my heart (yes, it does exist…somewhere deep down) for the bestselling author whose Sister of the Traveling Pants series brought Blake Lively and her fabulous hair tips into our lives. Well, get excited because my minions just alerted me to some juicy Hollywood fodder: The Here and Now has been acquired by Alcon Entertainment, Kira Davis’ 8:38 Productions and the producers behind a little ol’ show about moiGossip Girl!

That’s right, my loves: a film adaptation is well on its way and I couldn’t be more delighted. This was just the sort of good news I needed after being replaced as Taylor Swift’s favorite baking partner. (Honestly, I was so peeved when I found out. Am I to be punished for not wanting to ruin my fresh manicure by placing my hands in — Shudder! — raw cookie dough? Ugh.) Anyway, I digress. All in all, I cannot wait to see one of the best romantic thrillers of 2014 translated to the big screen and, most importantly, who they cast in the coveted role of Prenna, a teen from the future, where the world has fallen into disease-ridden destruction and survivors are forced to escape to the past.

“I’m excited to be working with Alloy and Alcon again as they take my latest novel and the main character of Prenna James to the big screen,” said Ann. “We had an incredibly productive collaboration on ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ and I’m looking forward to building on that great foundation we established for ‘The Here And Now.’

Get ready, dolls, because this is one cinematic event you won’t want to miss!

So, do you have any actresses you’d love to see cast as the film’s main heroine? Let me know in the comments below, and I’ll have my people call their people. XOXO
