Beyoncé, who was recently named as the most powerful person in entertainment by Forbes magazine, is spreading some of that wealth to a good cause. The singer/actress/entrepreneur/queen recently donated $7 million to a housing project for families in her hometown of Houston. The money will go to the construction and development of affordable housing for low income and homeless families in the Houston area. The housing unit will be called Knowles-Temenos Place (Temenos being the non-profit organization with which Beyoncé has partnered).
Queen Bey is no stranger to philanthropy. Just a month ago, she donated $500,000 to Chime for Change, an organization dedicated to strengthen and unite the voices of young women around the world. The singer has also donated considerable funds to relief efforts in Haiti, provided a track for an album benefitting Philippines relief and supported Goodwill in the #BeyGood promotion during the North American leg of her world tour (among the many other causes she supports).
Classy move, Beyoncé. Keep up the amazing charity work…and the fierce selfies (of course).
