Who better to recap each week’s new episode of Gossip Girl than author Cecily von Ziegesar? In this week’s edition, she rates the guys on the show (and spills about which character she’s not a fan of…)

It was supposed to be all about Blair, what with her big bridal shower, but it wound up being all about boys, boys, boys…!

Hot: Dan’s bewilderment at becoming a girless hasbeen. I always like him best when he’s a little disheveled, with a 5 o’clock shadow and messy hair. And I thought he held his liquor rather well.

Hotter: Chuck’s endearing attentiveness to his new mutt, Monkey, and his newer mutt, Dan. Chuck is like a chocolate truffle, all hard and stoic on the outside, with a sweet, gooey center.

Hottest: Nate. Is it me or is he looking better than ever? Like the innocent baby face is gone and the handsome devil has arrived? He’s fast becoming a media mogul à la Rupert Murdoch, except much younger and A LOT more handsome. What’s next, a phone-tapping scandal? And whose arms will he fall into now that his sexy, older boss-lady has been fired?

Not hot: Louis. He may have a charming French accent, nice suits, and a castle or two, but he’s turned into a selfish, petty, scheming jerk. Blair deserves someone way better.

Best quotes:

1)      Blair to her disobedient Constance minions– “What is this, The Help?”

2)      One of the two random girls who show up at Chuck’s apartment to seduce Dan, explaining to Chuck why she’s wearing only a towel: “When he said something about a shower we were like, ‘Yeah!’, but he never got in.”

Favorite moment: Like Blair I have a penchant for Tiffany blue, and even though her Tiffany party was overshadowed by the Gossip Girl source scandal, it was truly magnificent. Love the Tiffany blue boxes with white satin ribbons everywhere. Love the Tiffany blue-frosted cake. Love the one box with the diamond ring in it. I almost wept when Blair and Louis were bickering, ruining that beautiful party. Blair should get a medal for not turning into a sobbing pregnant mess here and for still wanting to eat cake.

Best sign-off: At last, in a stroke of brilliance and desperation now that her very existence is at stake, Gossip Girl uses the sign-off from the books—“You know you love me….” I love it when the writers use my stuff.

Tune in next week for more passion, drama, hotness, beautiful dresses and swollen egos—namely mine. Actually next week I’ll be commenting live in real time during the show, via Twitter.

You know you love it,
