It isn’t often that an opera singer gets invited to write an aria, a flight attendant is allowed to fly the plane, or Ryan Seacrest is encouraged to audition for American Idol. Usually, people stay in their assigned roles. But not so on the set of Glee, where star Chris Colfer has been tapped to write episode, all by himself!
“I’ve been asked in interviews if I ever wanted to write one, and I said, ‘Absolutely not because it was not my world.’ I didn’t want to tamper with someone else’s image,” he explained. “Then they were like, ‘Here, come tamper.’”
But before you envision an ep full of Barbara Streisand numbers and frilly costumes, CC is planning to take the show in a different–and darker–direction…
“I think we’re going to do something … with animals and the elderly. I kind of have this shot to do a really selfish episode, which if it was for me, I would probably have done a Miley Cyrus tribute episode,” he dished. “But I’m trying to do the best episode that I can, rather than do something selfish.”
Animals. And the elderly. I can’t even begin to enumerate all the times some irritating old person was doing something irritating, like show off their armpit hair, and I just wanted to break out into song, or imagined an entire musical devoted to them.
But then again, darlings, if Chrissy is coughing up a Golden Girls inspired episode then count me in. #guiltypleasure
