Scene & Heard: Demi Lovato on Her Extreme Cocaine Addiction

“I couldn’t go without 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes. I would smuggle it basically and just wait until everyone in first class would go to sleep and I would do it right there. I’d sneak to the bathroom and I’d do it. That’s how difficult it got and that was even with somebody [with me], I had a sober companion, somebody who was watching me 24/7 and living with me [and] I was able to hide it from them as well.”Demi Lovato confesses just how addicted to cocaine she was back in the day.

But it gets even worse, darlings. For the first time, D admitted for her most rock bottom moment. Let’s just say it consisted of an entire Sprite bottle full of vodka at 9 am and a very unpleasant car ride… “When I hit that moment I was like, it’s no longer fun when you’re doing it alone,” she said. “I’ve really never talked about this stuff before… I don’t know if I should be sharing this.”

You should, Demi. And not because I want something to write about, but because it’s important to let others know the not-so-fun parts about drugs and alcohol. It’s one thing to enjoy a cocktail at a party, it’s another to be so dependent on booze that you have it before your morning latte.

  1. Mary Said:

she is brave! i applaud her. she gain my respect!

  2. Carrie Said:

I think she’s being very brave by sharing this, and I don’t say it as a fan cos I’ve never liked it, but… go Demi!

  3. ohlala Said:

SHAME! a normal person would have gone to jail for taking drugs into a plane, and she is clapped! What a world… I think that law is law, and if you’re an American citizen you should obey laws, whether if you have millions of followers on twitter or not!

  4. Stephanie Said:

I used to suffer from a cocaine addiction, I wanted it all the time for at least a year, I hid it from my mom and sister, even my boyfriend at one point. I am sober now, but that feeling of addiction will follow me forever. I Give Demi lots of thanks for sharing her story, I still get uncomfortable talking about it myself. If she can over come it, everyone can. Thanks for being honest.

  5. Laura Said:

In my point of view, it’s really important to share that kind of stuff, for many reasons, but specially to realise how you can end up and who you’re looking forward to be like.
Pressure makes people need that kinda stuff to go away, let go and relax.

  6. Sarah Said:

So inspirational to learn that she came all the way back from that. Celebrities like Lindsay Lohan that still do that stuff & can’t get clean? Not only did Demi get clean, but she got her career on track & is insanely amazing. No, what she did wasn’t right, but we can’t look at the past, we should focus on the present so that the future can be better.

  7. Sarah Said:

nobody can arrest her cos they have no proof, moron! she’s obviously been fighting something and even though she chose to live a life in front of the camera’s, it’s still hard and you have no privacy. unfortunately for her, the one thing she loves most in the world comes with morons like you criticizing her and bringing her down, people like you should be shot for judging someone you know nothing about! being america means nothing! it’s a place you’re from, doesn’t make you special darling!

  8. Martha Said:

Demi’s strength is inspiring. has she messed up? sure. but a “normal person” wouldn’t get in any more trouble if there was no evidence and it was so long ago. This is a girl who has faced drug, alcohol, and cutting addictions as well as an eating disorder. The fact that she is able to overcome it all and share her stories with the world. She inspires and helps her fans daily. Who else would write a book about staying strong everyday? I love Demi…she is part of the reason I am still alive.

  9. Kelley Said:

I applaud her for coming forward and sharing I just came out of rehab and am almost 5months clean it’s a hard tough life but there is so much to live for

  10. Charlie Sheenie Said:

I would love to snort some cocaine off of her tits

  11. Icha Said:

…I salute Demi,. I’ve been observing people these days and find a solution that people just need to be honest for who they are.. There is no need for any secret because if you do then things will get worse in the future and maybe you think that is actually okay to hide some stuff but it just burdens you ..sometimes we just need to share ..make our own resolution .. Don’t be afraid of things because it won’t give you anything but eternal regret and suffering

  12. Icha Said:

To Ohlala : basically I’m Indonesian so I don’t know what rules lies there ..rules are rules but we are humans aren’t we? Rules are meant to guide people, decide what is fair ,obtain the balance of peace and harmony among people daily lives ..and so rules are rules but when it can’t do stuff as simple as I said then its not worthy of being a rule I think she’s not worthy of being in jail because some rule ..we’re humans ..that’s our nature..give her a chance because everyone needs one
