Eric Daman, costume designer for Gossip Girl, is spending his summer starring in his own web series on Cambio “The Daman Chronicles” and getting excited about picking out the clothes and accessories for Season 6 of GG.
“I’m hoping to just really make it Gossip Girl 2.0,” Eric said in an exclusive interview with gossipgirl.com. “It’s the last season, and I think we should just take it to the iconic place that it wants to be. I think we’ll turn it up a notch. The story lines are really great and leading the way to help me grow the fashion and turn it up. I feel like every episode needs to look like a hundred million Gossip Girl bucks.”
So, what story lines are coming up this season? “I have seen outlines for the script which I’m not allowed to talk about,” he said. “But they are really good and the story lines are fun. They’ve got a lot of room for me to play with fashion. It’s a challenge and a blessed curse because I feel like I need to outdo myself every episode, and now I really have to outdo myself for the whole last season, but it’s exciting.”
How does Eric come up with all of the ideas for costumes on the show? He said his inspiration is New York. “Every time I walk down the street anywhere in the city, I look at the architecture, art, parks, and people. It’s such a visual dream, a kaleidoscope everywhere I look that really influences me.”
