The Gossip Girl television series may be over, but its iconic impact on fashion will live on forever. We asked GG fashion fan and expert Karrisa Bowers to look back on some of her favorite looks from the six seasons of the show. Today, she analyzes Serena van der Woodsen‘s (Blake Lively) style. Take a look at the gallery below to flashback to some of S’s looks. Which one is your fave?
PS- Karissa, editor of FashionofGossipGirl.com, has just created a site dedicated to the new CW show The Carrie Diaries (which GG costume designer Eric Daman works on). Check it out at The Carrie Diaries Style!
Flashback to Season One where Serena sported a hippie-chic, Kate Moss-inspired look. In “Bad News Blair,” Serena keeps it neutral in brown tones and adds a pop of color with her Gucci Indy bag. Serena’s bohemian look added flair to her Contance Billard uniform, making us all wish we looked that effortlessly cool back in high school. Over-the-knee boots by Chinese Laundry and a cashmere Magaschoni vest make her uniform instantly cute. Now out of high school, Serena begins to wear a more sophisticated look, while still maintaining a laid back vibe to her ensembles. In “Easy J,” Serena mixed and matched patterns and textures with a Tibi Byzantine skirt and a printed Porter Grey top. On a cold day in “The Hurt Locket,” Serena makes a bold statement while wearing plaid tights with thigh high leather boots. She finishes off the look with a cozy, grey wool 3.1 Phillip Lim coat. Serena dresses up a pretty, delicate Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent dress with a Givenchy blazer in “The Jewel of Denial.” She pulls together the look with green chunky necklaces and Charlotte Olympia platform pumps. In “Beauty and The Feast,” Serena dons stripes and florals while hanging out with Ivy Dickens. She wears a coral Topshop blazer and a Porter Grey floral chiffon skirt. Serena’s breezy look in “Dirty Rotten Scandals” was an instant favorite for me. Her Haute Hippie skirt is paired with a neutral crystal beaded tank by Madison Marcus. Snakeskin pumps and a 3.1 Phillip Lim bag complete the look. Serena is pretty in pastels at a summer wedding in “Gone Maybe Gone,” wearing a Jenny Packham scalloped dress paired with Sequin ‘Mystere’ earrings. Serena revisits her bohemian style days in a maxi skirt by Haute Hippie and an Alice + Olivia chain embellished top. By adding kaleidoscopic shoes and a rainbow Angel Jackson bag, this outfit pops!In “Where The Vile Things Are,” Serena sticks with a burgundy color palette and wears colorblock denim by Rag & Bone, an oversize Giada Forte cardigan and a Burberry Prorsum striped bag. This outfit makes a bold statement and is true to Serena’s daring fashion sense.
