Lady Gaga‘s vomit-inducing performance at SXSW had everyone talking, but not in the art-appreciation way LG probably had hoped. Demi Lovato, one of the many critics, called the performance “sad.”
“As if we didn’t have enough people glamorizing eating disorders already,” Demi tweeted. “Bottom line, it’s not ‘cool’ or ‘artsy’ at all.”
But Gaga fired back, telling E! News on Friday that she takes eating disorders very seriously since she’s struggled with one for over ten years.
“I am very supportive of Demi’s struggle and her recovery as well as the recovery of anyone who is suffering from that,” she said. “But this performance had absolutely nothing to do with any eating disorder, and we never intended for it to be taken that way.”
LG stood by her performance and the “message of rage and pain that we were trying to express in that moment.” Can’t argue with that I guess. It caused a lot of rage, and was super painful to watch….
So whose side are you on, minions? Do you think LG should be able to express herself however she’d like, or does she have a responsibility to her fans and anyone else watching? Vote below!
