If there’s one event that bores me to tears, it’s the Glamour Women of the Year Awards (no boys, no bar, no thank you.) But I sent one of my minions as a punishment (that’ll teach her to wear last season Ferragamo on Tory Burch Tuesdays) and she reported something rather fascinating: Lena Dunham dressed well.
As you know, Lena has had a seemingly endless stream of unflattering and ill-conceived fashion ideas, but last night she somehow managed to pull it together for the WOTY red carpet. Behold:
Are my eyes deceiving me, darlings? Or does LD actually look lady like and lovely for a change? This custom Theory by Olivier Theyskens dress, featuring a silver and black plaid design, was both revealing and demure, which is difficult to pull off. The dress worked on Lena because it’s nipped waist actually gave her figure a shape, whereas she usually opts for billowing, sack-like frocks. And we all know how that turns out…
I also enjoy her hair’s retro wave and pointy toe pumps. My only complaint is that the bodice is a little loose, and I do not enjoy her bracelet as it competes with the gown’s beaded sleeve. But overall, A for effort, Lena–color me impressed.
What’s your feeling on LD’s latest look? Is this a gown she should keep in rotation or does it look like she got tangled up in a net?
