Now this has gone too far: Demi Lovato and Kathy Griffin’s once run-of-the-mill March Twitter feud has escalated to death threats. No, darlings, neither lady is bringing the cray on the other. Demi’s fans, though, have sent truly vile and violent messages to Kathy via Twitter, causing the police to step in.
As I reported earlier, the original feud happened in March when the comedienne responded to a fan’s query about who the “biggest douche” in Hollywood was with “Probably [Demi] Lovato,” adding, “Plus, she should calm the f down bout Lady Gaga gettin barfed on.” Demi then tweeted back a photo of herself sticking her tongue out captioned “Only a ‘douche’ to people I can’t stand.”
And that was the end of it. As Twitter feuds go, this one was pretty tame.
During an interview this week with Howard Stern, though, Kathy revealed that some of the so-called “Lovatics” have been sending her death threats ever since. The police are now investigating these threats to decide if any are legit. This is certainly no overreaction on K’s part, either: Fans have tweeted that they hope she gets raped, murdered, commits suicide or gets cancer. She even read a tweet from one Demi fan that said, “I will burn your house down c—t.” Not okay. Not okay at all.
A good Twitter feud is one of my favorite guilty pleasures, right up there with a glass of mid-day champagne at the Pierre. A Twitter feud that reaches the level of death threats and police involvement, though? It’s just no longer entertaining.
Kathy added in her Howard Stern interview, “The point is, I have no problem with Demi Lovato.” Demi, dear, chime in your desire to end this feud peacefully so we can be done with it and on to the next one.
Lovatics, are you ready to forget this feud already?
