In Season 5, Episode 16 of Gossip Girl (aka “Cross Rhodes,”) the Ivy/Lola drama comes to a well, crossroads, and the Dan/Blair/Serena triangle gets even more twisted.
- Serena and Blair Are in a Fight- Of course Serena is upset that Blair and Dan were caught kissing at Nate’s high school throwback party on Valentine’s Day. The roommates have words, Serena bumps Blair making her lipstick run on her face, and finally Dorota calls for a stop to all of this, locking the two into the dining room until they’ve worked things out. Serena gets this crazy idea that if Blair and Dan can hang out as just friends, she’ll be happy. OK, S… whatever you say.
- Lola Calls Ivy From Nate’s Phone – In a sneaky little move, Lola is able to confront the one who has basically stolen her identity. “Let it go, Lola,” Ivy says in an “Oh-shit-I’m-about-to-get-caught” voice.
- Chuck Steals Dan’s Book Proposal and Replaces It With a Fake – To get back at Dan for kissing Blair, Chuck swaps out Dan’s real proposal with another one and hands it to the messenger to be sent to Alessandra (who Dan is seducing with fancy gifts and that raspy Chuck Bass voice). He then goes to A’s office and makes sure that she doesn’t read it before she sends it off to publisher Jonathan Karp. After the two are, ahem, finished, Alessandra realizes that she missed four calls from Jonathan’s office. Thinking this is a great sign, she calls back immediately only to be told that the book proposal was plagiarized. Oh, you mother Chucker…
- CeCe’s Health is Getting Worse – The nurse tells Ivy that CeCe needs to go to the hospital asap. Ivy comes to her senses finally and tells the nurse the rest of the family need to know.
- Lola and the UCB Theater Reenact Dan’s Book Inside – Dan, being the good sport, goes to the rehearsals, and Blair — who’s trying to prove that she and Lonely Boy can be friends without any benefits — goes, too. Very coincidentally Lola is playing the character based off of Blair. B tries to show her how she needs to kiss Dan, and OF COURSE Serena walks in right as they’re doing that. She runs away just as Nate comes and says she looked upset. Duh! Then as Lola is reading Gossip Girl to research her character, she sees a breaking post about Charlie Rhodes going to the hospital, so Lola rushes out there to see what’s happening. Who will play the part of Claire in Lola’s absence? Why, B, of course! And during the live scene, she has an “Aha” moment that Dan really loves her and she runs off stage to go find him.
- Ivy Gets Caught – Lola goes to the hospital to see what’s going on with Ivy. And Carol is there! “Mom!?” “Who is this girl?” everyone else asks. “It’s my daughter,” Carol admits. BUSTED Ivy! The whole scandal unravels right there. “Oh, so we’re cousins?” Serena says to Lola. “Yeah, but up until just now I didn’t have any family so forgive me if I don’t look excited.” (Note: whole conversation was paraphrased)
- Blair Tells Chuck to Be Good Again – She knows he’s picking on Dan so she tells him to make nice. Chuck then sends Alessandra the correct book proposal. Good boy, Chuck!
- CeCe Dies – The whole family is there to say goodbye. And we all cry in our Hermes handkerchiefs
