Rise and shine, Upper East Siders! Season 6, Episode 2 “High Infidelity” opens with a montage of everyone waking up: Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) and his new girl Sage (Sofia Black-D’Elia); Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Steven Spence (Barry Watson); and Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) opens his tired eyes to see Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) creepily watching him sleep.
Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) wakes up frantically shouting at Dorota (Zuzanna Szadkowski) that it’s WWD day. A reporter is coming to write an article about Blair design’s. The article could make or break her career.
Amira (Andrea Gabriel) is leaving to go back to Dubai to be back with her fiance. But Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) invites her to brunch with Bart (Robert John Burke) and Lily (Kelly Rutherford) so that she can drop a few names and see how he reacts to get clues about Bart’s big secret. She accepts (even though Bart already paid her a bunch of money to get out of town and never reveal anything). Did she not see it coming that Bart would scare her off with a threat when the two of them were alone at the brunch? He confronts her saying “Our weekend together has cost me enough. Don’t let me warn you again.” Lily overhears this and is shocked that the two had an affair.
Meanwhile, Dan has been dropped by his agent so Georgina proposes they find a magazine to serialize Inside Part 2. They meet with editors at Vanity Fair, New York and The Nation.
Back at Blair’s, her nemesis Nelly Yuki (Yin Chang) turns out to be the WWD reporter and says that Blair will be profiled against her other enemy Poppy Lifton (Tamara Feldman). So B sends her minions to scope out Poppy’s collection. They find out that she’s using the same exact fabric as Blair used for her designs. So, B devises a plan for them to break in and steal all of the pieces. However, they find out that the collection will be shot at the Central Park Conservatory Gala — which is being hosted by Serena!
The Spectator is sponsoring Serena’s gala and Nate and S are walking down the street after he gives her the money. Nate is telling Serena about Sage just as he sees her get out of a cab with Steven! Nate calls Sage and leaves a message saying that he’s done with her. While talking to Serena about this, Nate makes a reference to Millionaire Matchmaker, saying “As if you don’t watch it…” (Really Nate?) Serena calls Steven and asks if he’s seeing anyone else. He says no, but she doesn’t believe him.
Nate tells Dan he wants to publish his work in The Spectator. He said he needs the money after giving up the expose on Gossip Girl. Dan says he’s letting Georgina handle the business side (Really Dan?) Turns out, Dan got an offer from Vanity Fair but he said no. He tells Nate that he will give it to The Spectator only if he prints it word for word. Nate reads a page from it and says he might lose some friends and family if it gets out. Dan’s okay with that.
At the gala, Serena sees Sage and interrupts Nate who is talking with the head of media for Johnson & Johnson to tell him this (Really Serena?). Sage comes up to him and says she just ommitted certain details. They make up and start making out right there. Of course Steven sees this and comes up and punches Nate. Serena asks him why he’s defending that slut. He says, “That slut is my 17-year-old daughter.” (Dun dun dun!)
Nelly sees Dan at the gala and asks him how he can still want in. She said she met a bunch of other smart losers at Yale and learned “We need to stop playing by their rules and start making our own.”
Nelly decides that writing about Blair’s imploding mess will only bring her more buzz, so she will only write about Poppy’s collection and will use the extra space for more pics.
Chuck tells Amira that he won’t give her the money (that’s locked in his safe) until she tells him everything she did and every detail of that weekend with Bart. He gets a text from Blair, runs to her, only to find out that she didn’t send it. When he gets back to his apartment, he sees that Bart has taken the money from the safe, given it to Amira, and sent her on her way. Chuck and Bart have a long convo. Bart wants to call a truce. He says he’ll give Chuck some Bass properties and they can call themselves a family again. Chuck says no. He wants to find out Bart’s secret.
Speaking of the secret… Amira sends Chuck a picture of a man from that weekend she spent with Bart. She says she doesn’t know his name and not to contact her again.
Serena and Steven are walking Sage to school the next morning. They have made a deal: As long as Sage goes to school, she can date Nate. After she’s dropped off, her friends ask her if it’s true that her dad is dating Serena. She says, “not for long.”
