“I recently did an interview and they asked me who I thought was up-and-coming and making a difference. I said, ‘She doesn’t like me, but Lorde.’ I’m going to support her whether she likes me or not because I think she’s doing great things.” – Selena Gomez reveals to Seventeen that she’s so above Lorde’s comments late last year saying she was anti-feminist.
As you’ll recall, after hearing what the Kiwi teen had said about her, Sel announced she would no longer be covering “Royals” on her tour anymore. “That’s not feminism,” she said at the time. “[Lorde is] not supporting other women. That’s my honest opinion, that’s what I would say to her if I saw her.”
But now, in the March issue of Seventeen–which Selena poses on different covers with shirts covered in girl power words like “BRAVE” and “CONFIDENT” (how adorable…)–the 21-year-old is pretty confident that she and her rival are fine. “I’ve never met her, but she’s extremely talented, and she has a voice that she likes to use, and I think that’s great,” she said. “Some day I will see her and we’ll be cool.”
What do you think of Selena’s kind words about Lorde? Is she being too nice or do you think she’s lying through her perfectly straight teeth about being totally over the feud?
