Note to self: If I ever make a movie, do not release it on the same weekend as One Direction’s. Selena Gomez’s new thriller, Getaway, is a may-jah flop, pulling in a measly $5.5 million, compared to 1D’s film, This Is Us, raking in $14 million just overseas. But even worse? It’s also one of the worst reviewed movies of all time.
Of all time. It has a 2% rating on RottenTomatoes.com, meaning that’s the percentage of people who actually liked it. To put that into perspective, some film called Hell Baby earned 43%.
Here’s what a few reviewers had to say…
“Well good job, Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez! With one movie you’ve managed to make all of the good work you’ve done this year irrelevant.”
“You’ve probably seen this movie before, watching a child play with his toy Hot Wheels cars after eating multiple bowls of sugary breakfast cereal.”
“Don’t be alarmed if you walk out of Getaway feeling confused. It’s not you. This grainy, clustered video game of a movie makes no sense.”
YIKES. For you fans of Monte Carlo and Spring Breakers, do you think that Selena has genuine acting ability and this was merely a poorly written script? Or should Sel stick to singing?
